Your documents

Every PDF you open, compress, merge, sign, mark up, search, or ask a question about is processed on your device, using Apple's built-in graphics, text-recognition, and machine-learning frameworks. Your files are never uploaded, transmitted, or copied anywhere outside your device.

That includes reading text from scans. When a page has no text layer — a scan, a fax, or a photo — the words are read on your device with Apple's Vision framework, which detects the language automatically across the twenty-odd it supports. The page image is never sent anywhere.

Compressed files and their details are saved in the app's History so you can preview or share them again. This lives in the app's private storage on your device. Deleting an item from History, or deleting the app, removes it permanently. We never receive a copy.

Converting files

The Convert tab reads a PDF's words, turns its pages into images, builds a PDF out of pictures, and changes one image format into another. All four run on your device with Apple's own graphics and text-recognition frameworks. Nothing is uploaded, and no conversion involves the network.

Photos are chosen through the standard iOS photo picker, which runs outside the app. The app only receives the specific pictures you pick, so it never asks for — and is never granted — access to your photo library.

Each conversion screen works in its own temporary folder and deletes it when you leave. A folder left behind by an interrupted conversion is cleared the next time the app opens.

Asking questions about a PDF

Answers are generated on your iPhone. Your questions, your documents, and the answers are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.

On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, the app uses the language model already built into iOS. Nothing is downloaded and nothing extra is stored.

On other iPhones you may optionally download an open-weight language model. This is the only time the app uses the network, and it is the only network connection the app ever makes:

• It downloads model files from a public model host (Hugging Face).
• It is a one-way download. Nothing about you or your documents is sent with it.
• No account, identifier, or personal information accompanies the request. The host sees an ordinary web request, including your IP address, as it would for any file download.
• The files are kept in the app's private storage, excluded from iCloud backup. You can delete them at any time in Settings, and the app keeps working without them.

If you never start that download, PDF Squeeze makes no network connections at all.

To answer questions quickly, the app keeps a private index of the document's text on your device — the words it read, so that reopening a long scan doesn't mean reading it again. It is stored in the app's private storage, marked so it is not included in your iCloud backup, and protected by the device passcode. Only the most recent twenty documents are kept, and you can delete the whole cache at any time under Settings → Intelligence. It is never transmitted.

Your signature

A signature you create is stored only on your device — as pen strokes, or as your typed name plus the style you chose. It is never stored as a photograph and never leaves the phone. Deleting the app removes it.

What we collect

Nothing. The app contains no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no crash reporting, and no third-party tracking SDKs. There is no account to create and no personal information to give us. We could not identify a single user of this app.

The app uses the open-source MLX framework to run a downloaded model on your device's own hardware. MLX runs offline and transmits nothing.

Purchases

The one-time Lifetime Unlock is handled entirely by Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment and tells the app whether the unlock is active. Your payment details are handled by Apple and are never seen by, or shared with, the developer. Apple's handling of that transaction is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Sharing files yourself

If you choose to share a PDF using the iOS share sheet, that file goes wherever you send it — Mail, Messages, Files, or another app. That is your action, under your control, and this policy no longer applies once the file leaves the app.

Children

PDF Squeeze is safe for all ages. Because it collects no data whatsoever, it collects nothing from children either.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date. The 29 August 2026 update added the section on converting files (version 3.1), described the on-device index kept for answering questions, and noted that scans are now read in more than twenty languages (version 3.2). The earlier August 2026 update added the sections on asking questions, reading scans, and signatures, and described the optional model download introduced in version 3.0.
