Privionyx for iOS

Support

A private, on-device expense tracker for iPhone and iPad

Need a hand? Write to devfa75@gmail.com. I read every message and normally reply within a few days.

It helps enormously if you include your iOS version, your device model, the app version (Settings → About), and what you did just before the problem appeared. A screenshot is worth several paragraphs.

Frequently asked

Where are my receipts stored? Can you see them?

They are stored on your device and nowhere else. There is no account and no server, so I have no way to see your receipts, amounts, or photos — even if you asked me to. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

I got a new iPhone. Will my receipts come with me?

Yes, if you restore the new phone from an iPhone or iCloud backup — your Privionyx data is part of that backup like any other app's. If you set the new phone up as new instead, the data will not be there, and because I hold no copy there is no way to recover it. Restore from a backup if your receipts matter to you.

The Gemma model file is the deliberate exception: it is excluded from backups so it does not add 2.6 GB to every one. If you use that assistant, download it again on the new device.

I bought Remove Ads but the ads are back

Open Settings → Restore Purchases, or tap Restore Purchase on the Remove Ads screen. This happens after reinstalling the app or moving to a new device, and restoring is the intended fix.

Restoring only works on the same Apple Account that made the purchase. If you have more than one, check which is signed in under iOS Settings → your name → Media & Purchases. When a restore reports that no purchase was found, that is almost always the cause.

I tapped Unlock and nothing happened

Purchases go through the App Store, so they need a network connection and an Apple Account signed in on the device. If the store cannot be reached, the app tells you so on the spot. If Screen Time restricts in-app purchases the purchase will not start — check iOS Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by me — I never receive your payment details and cannot issue one. Request it at reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple Account that bought it.

Which assistant should I choose?

All three run on your device. None of them sends your receipts anywhere.

The Apple Intelligence option is unavailable

That option depends on Apple Intelligence being supported by your device, enabled in iOS Settings, and finished with its own initial setup. The app shows the specific reason next to the option when it cannot be used. Nothing is broken — pick Built-in or Gemma in the meantime.

The Gemma download is large, or will not start

The model is about 2.6 GB. A few things to check:

The download continues in the background and resumes rather than restarting if it is interrupted. You can delete the model later from Settings to reclaim the space.

A receipt was scanned wrong

Tap the receipt and edit any field — merchant, total, date, or category. When you correct which category a merchant belongs to, the app remembers that choice and applies it to that merchant next time.

Scanning quality depends a lot on the photo. Flat, well lit, and with the whole receipt in frame beats a crumpled one at an angle. Faded thermal paper is genuinely hard. If a particular receipt fails badly and you are willing to send the photo it is useful to me — but only send one you do not mind sharing, and it is entirely optional.

Why do I still see ads?

Privionyx is free, and the banner is what pays for it. The ads are non-personalized: no advertising identifier, no tracking across other apps, and no receipt data ever included in an ad request. Remove Ads is a one-time purchase that stops the app requesting ads at all.

How do I delete my data?

Swipe to delete individual receipts inside the app. To remove everything, delete the app from your Home Screen — that destroys all of it, since it never existed anywhere else. Note that a device backup taken earlier may still contain a copy; that backup is Apple's, managed in iOS Settings.

Do you have a feature in mind?

Send it. This is a small app built by one person, so I cannot promise a timeline, but requests genuinely shape what gets built next.
